SIR JOHN LAWES school pupils have been busy achieving success on a number of sporting fronts.

Hannah Walker, who left the school in the summer, was the first female home in the Herts 10k for the third year running. Hannah, who was one of 2,300 runners taking part, finished in a personal best time of 35mins 41secs.

Year eight pupil Liam Rowles competed in the British Judo Junior National Championships beating off the competition to take bronze.

Exhausted but elated Liam said: "I did better than I thought and I was really pleased with my result."

And finally year nine pupil Zoe Cutmore took part in the 148cms Show Pony class at the recent Horse of the Year Show.

Zoe and her pony Eddie finished eighth out of 27 ponies at the event a phenomenal achievement considering Eddie is looked after and trained at home by Zoe and her family. Most of the ponies Zoe and Eddie competed against are professionally trained and produced and was made even more remarkable considering it was the first time Zoe had competed.
