St Albans Striders wrapped up the Statons Midweek Road Race League with another dominant performance.

The sight of Striders winning has become the norm for the other five teams competing as the St Albans team secured first place in the men’s, women’s, vet men and vet women categories. In fact, so comprehensive was Striders’ superiority that the men’s and women’s B teams came third and fourth respectively in the last fixture, held in St Albans.

The winning men’s team comprised Tom Crouch (2nd), Paul Adams (3rd), Stephen Buckle (7th), Oliver Poulain (9th), Steven Cockrell (10th),Peter Crowdell (13th), Adam Dunajko (14th), Nairn McWilliams (15th), Graham Smith (18th), Jonathan Scott (19th), Simon Fraser (20th) and Gary Warren (23rd). The women’s team was Wendy Webster (1st), Claire Kremer (3rd), Jennifer Conway (5th), Wendy Walsh (6th), Elizabeth McKie (9th), Helen Cartlidge (11th), Deborah Steer (14th) and Zoe Lowe (16th).

On Sunday Deborah Steer became the British Masters vet 50 champion at the Bewl 15-mile muti-terrain race, winning in 1hr 52mins. At the Bushey 10, Graham Smith came first out of 339 runners in 36mins and Clare Hewitt was 151st.

At the Milton Keynes half marathon, Wendy Walsh was sixth female in 1hr 32mins, Howard Bull finished in 1hr 38mins, Charlotte Holloway achieved a personal best time and Rose McGinness and Jenna Pickering also ran.
