Striders beat rivals to win double

ST Albans Striders enjoyed success in Royston in the second fixture of the Herts Mid Week Road race league.

Both the men and the women picked up wins ahead of rivals Garden City Runners in the event on Tuesday, June 3.

In the men's Paul Adams finished the 10k course first in 32.44, Jonathan Scott was fifth in 33.54 and Steve Buckle seventh in 34.16. Other scorers: Matt Ennion 34.18, Blake Vivian 34.20, Pablo Lastras 35.11, Danny Digweed 36.05, Karl Hayer 37.39, Richard Harry 37.40, Paul Siddle 37.44 and John Jones 38.21.

In the women's Sarah Fensome finished fourth in 39.15, Lucy Waterlow was fifth in 39.26 and Liz McKie eighth in 40.16. Other scorers: Gill Jubb 41.13, Sally Onn 42.14 and Georgie Ripper 42.17 completed the scoring. Striders will be looking to maintain their position at the next fixture in Chingford next Wednesday evening.
