St Albans Striders were busy at home and abroad over the past week.

Anna Buckingham took on the 340k Tor des Geants race, including 24,000m of ascent in the Alps.

And with a cut-off time of 150 hours, Buckingham finished in 143, saying: “The most incredible part was reaching the final 2,900m summit at the exact moment the sun poked out.”

Laura Hicks was sixth woman home at the Chiltern Wonderland 50-mile race in a best of 9:14, as Alex Johnston clocked 3:09 at the Berlin Marathon, 15 minutes quicker than before, as Richard Hayes ran 3:55.

Natalie Edwards ran the Kew Gardens 10k in 1:06, two minutes faster than last year, as 24 members took on parkruns, including Amanda and Richard Derrick (Whitstable), Christine McIntyre (Belfast), Martin Crisp (Toyen, Norway).

Doug Hobson was first at Westmill, with Sebastian Rowe and Jonathan Scott third at Penrose and Dulwich.
