ST Albans Ladies got off to a fine start in the Women's Conference East as they beat Staines at Clarence Park on Saturday.

The Tangerines enjoyed a bright start when Lisa McNeil netted from a penalty corner on six minutes. Tasha Dyson added the second for St Albans just after half time but 10 minutes later Staines replied with a strike from a penalty corner, finished off by Melanie Martell.

St Albans took just four minutes to restore their two-goal advantage when Sarah Embrey converted a penalty stroke to seal the 3-1 victory.

The Saints go away to Barnes Hounslow Ealing on Saturday for a 12noon start.
