The St Albans Bowling Club let a lead slip in a district league loss.

St Albans led on three out of four rinks after 10 ends but ended up losing by 81 shots to 63. The hosts’ top rink was Colin Smith, Phil MacArthur, Bob Pomeroy and skip Ken Budd, 21-13.

In a friendly match at Linslade, St Albans won on three of four rinks and by 88 shots to 56. The quartet of Alan Turner, Dave McManus, Paddy Boyle and skip Joyce Wilson were the top rink. St Albans also beat North Mymms 69-64 in a friendly in which they won two and lost two rinks. The highest winning rink for St Albans was that of Paddy Boyle, Bob Pomeroy and Peter Kay, 24-13.

In a mixed four-rink match, St Albans lost 84-64 to Whitethorn. Peter Kay and Bob Pomeroy were again in the top rink, this time with Eileen Cox and Alan Turner.
