After successfully qualifying at their respective East Divisional tournaments before Christmas, St Albans Hockey Club’s men’s and ladies’ first team indoor squads are in action again this weekend at their England Hockey League Division II competitions.
The ladies head to Haslemere whilst the men are at Eastleigh. Both face stiff competition in this next phase, playing five matches over the two days. The target is a top three place in order to progress to the next level of EHL indoor competition, held at the end of January.
St Albans’ men are once again led by Paul Cooper who has a wealth of experience at this level and who will be vital to the team’s success both on and off the court. The ladies have many new faces in their squad this season and are coached by one of the club’s very best at the indoor game, Stephane Port.
While the first teams continue their indoor campaigns, outdoor league hockey and colts hockey recommences this weekend for the club’s 15 other adult teams and nearly 250 junior members.
