ST ALBANS tumbled to a disappointing County Cup defeat against Cockfosters at the weekend.
Put into bat, St Albans posted an impressive 256-6 off their 50 overs, Rajendran blasting his way to 98 not out, with the energetic support of Rowlands (40).
Despite the impressive economic spell of Bowskill early on, Cockfosters won by seven wickets in the last over, each spinner in the Rajendran-Choudry-Hall trio taking a wicket.
n St Albans 2nd XI’s excellent run of form continued with a triumphant victory over Northwood Town.
Bowling first, Northwood could only manage 77 all out, due to the untiring accuracy and impressive fielding of the 2nd XI, notably renowned short-leg fielder, Sandipan Chanda.
Charlie Smith rampaged to final figures of 6-28, ably supported by Bowskill (3-18), Khan and Stamp.
In response, St Albans cruised to victory in 26 overs, winning by a comfortable six wicket margin.
Despite a minor tumble of wickets after St Albans’ steady start, Goodfellow’s big hitting 28 not out resulted in a comprehensive victory, making it three wins out of four for St Albans 2nd XI.
n St Albans 3rd XI batted first to make 200-8, declaring after 50 overs.
The innings was started well, at a remarkable seven runs an over, with openers Crisp and Ferguson making 27 and 30 runs respectively.
Despite scoring slowing, St Albans batted consistently and a captain’s knock from Eames of 30 unbeaten resulted in St Albans declaration.
Opening bowlers Pitts and Little meant that Totteridge and Millhillians were soon behind the required run rate.
Masqood and Hopkins bowled St Albans into a winning position, but with St Albans needing a wicket in the last two overs, the opposition held on for a draw, falling 39 runs short of St Albans’ total.
