Ian Allinson promised changes to try and stem the tide of goals being conceded by St Albans City and has been true to his word with two incomings and three outgoings this week at Clarence Park.
The City boss has brought in defenders Clovis Kamdjo and Lewis Knight to replace Harold Joseph and Tarik Moore-Azille, who head out of the Saints’ exit door.
Also leaving the club is Roman Michael-Percil.
Kamdjo, 27, was most recently with York City, having spent time at both Forest Green Rovers and York City, and also enjoyed a spell under Allinson at Boreham Wood.
Knight comes in from fellow National League South side Concord Rangers.
In a brief statement of the club’s website, Allinson gave his reasons behind the moves.
He said: “My job is to assemble the best possible squad to win football matches and if things need to be changed along the way then I won’t be afraid to do that.
“We’re on a tight budget and we’re a small squad so I need to know that everyone is at the level required for this football club.
“I had Clovis with me at Boreham Wood but he suffered a ligament injury at York which was a setback but make no mistake, we have a football league quality player on our hands.
“Lewis Knight is obviously someone Glenn [Alzapiedi] knows well from his time at Concord and he’s hungry to learn and make an impact here.”
Joseph’s departure comes after the centre-half was sent-off following a clash with Ben Geering at Billericay Town on Monday.
He had apologised for his actions on Twitter before taking to social media once more to reveal his departure from the Saints.
He said: “After the incident over the weekend, the club decided it was best to part ways with myself.
“After viewing the video you can see I have tried to protect myself and it was a complete accident as there was no intention of hurting the player at all and I was trying to turn away from him.
“I understand it was silly to hold onto the ball and I will only learn from this episode.
“I want to thank all those who have supported me and I’m absolutely gutted my time at the club has come to an end.
“Time to move onto my next chapter.”
