Harry Wheeler has said Saturday’s trip to Oxford City is the first of 18 cup finals for his St Albans City side.

City are in 20th position in the Vanarama National League South, one place and two points behind Eastbourne Borough and safety.

And Wheeler, who was handed the manager’s job until the end of the season, knows he has only one target – keep the club in the division.

But he is confident that his players are up to the task.

He said: “Every game is the biggest game of the season.

“[Oxford City] are a very good team and it’s going to be a difficult game.

“The lads looked very bright in the week. We went out for dinner after training last Saturday.

“They are in good spirits and everyone is quite close.”

And he still believes that it will only take a few small adjustments to get things right.

He said: “With the exception of the Sutton game, we’ve been close to getting good results.

“Against Chelmsford the one time we switched off we conceded an equaliser.

“The difference between being successful and not is miniscule.

“We have been working hard on the little things, to improve the small margins.

“They just need to show the quality they have.”

Ed Oshodi (hamstring) remains the only doubt for Wheeler. Everyone else is fit with Jorell Johnson and new loan-signing Charlie MacDonald both available for selection.
