A CHARITY football match, in aid of Help for Heroes and Grove House Hospice, between a St Albans City XI and HMS St Albans ended in a 6-1 win for the Clarence Park side last night (Monday).

The City side, which during the course of the game included first team manager David Howell and his assistant Ken Charlery, led 2-0 at the break with goals from Jamal Park-Jude and James Shaw.

The second period saw James Bent, Charlery, Sakho Bakare and Ryan Ware also get their name on the scoresheet.

However, the loudest cheer of the night was reserved for HMS St Albans scorer Rob Jones.

During presentations between the two sides, St Albans City chairman Ian Ridley handed a signed Saints shirt to the Commanding Officer of HMS St Albans, CO Tom Sharpe, CDR-RN OBE.
