Saints ready to make a bit of history says Ian Allinson

St Albans City manager Ian Allinson is happy with his team’s start to the Vanarama National League South season – and thinks they are ready to create a small piece of club history.
Saints travel to Twerton Park, home of Bath City, tomorrow (Saturday) having never scored at the ground in any of their previous attempts.
But Allinson believes the side he has assembled at Clarence Park for this season is more than capable of reversing that statistic.
He said: “There’s always the chance we could do something slightly different so we have to be positive. We’ve got to go there in the right frame of mind and we’re unbeaten in two games which is good.
“I just feel going forward we’ve got something about us. We’ve got lots of pace, lots of movement and we can give teams problems.
“We’ve just got to make sure we don’t concede goals like we did against Wealdstone.
“We’ve got goals in us. We’ve got six players which are a great bonus for us as a forward-thinking side.”
One of those players is last year’s top scorer Louie Theophanous who opened his account for this year with a goal against Wealdstone on Monday, a fact that Allinson feels is vital.
“It’s important because he thrives on goals and his confidence comes from the goals he scores,” said the City boss.
“I think we saw a different player after he scored [on Monday]. For the next 15, 20 minutes he caused them problems. He started to get hold of the ball and run at defenders.”
The point at Grosvenor Vale followed an opening day victory over Concord Rangers and leaves City sixth in the table.
Allinson added: “If we’d taken four points from the first two games before the season started, we’d have been happy. That’s what we have to do, average two points a game.
“We’ve got two tough games against Bath and Chelmsford and it was important to get points on the board before those matches.”
