St Albans City v Bromley

Blue Square Bet South

THE Saints go into Saturday’s home tie with Bromley in buoyant mood courtesy of back-to-back victories over the New Year weekend.

THE LOWDOWN: After racing away at the start of the season with seven wins from their opening seven games Bromley have fallen away in recent weeks.

The Saints were the first team to take points from Mark Goldberg’s side this season when they earned a 1-1 draw at Hayes Lane.

Since their draw with the Saints Bromley have won just three times in the League but despite their barren spell the Lilywhites remain in second place in the Blue Square Bet South table.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Striker Leon McKenzie will be hoping to continue his goalscoring exploits at Clarence Park on Saturday after plundering a hat-trick in the Lilywhites’ 4-3 win over Bishop’s Stortford on Monday.

LAST LINEUP – vs. Bishop’s Stortford: Holloway, Henriques, Dunk, Daly, Sobers, Sharp, Harding, Ibrahima, McKenzie, Hockton, Dolby.

LAST TIME: The spoils were shared when the two sides met at Hayes Lane in September. Pete Smith thought he’d given the Saints the lead with a superb solo effort only for it to be wrongly chalked off for offside.

As it was the Saints entered the half-time break behind with livewire winger Tony Finn netting right on the stroke of half time. The Saints battled back however and earned a point when Mark Peters headed home powerfully from a corner.

Bromley’s last visit to Clarence Park came in December 2009 when a wonder goal from Gary Cohen plus a first goal for the club for Jonathan O’Donnell gave City all three points.

TEAM NEWS: Saints boss Steve Castle has a full squad to choose from following Adam Everitt’s return from suspension on Monday.

Bromley welcome Paul Vines back into the fold following the conclusion of striker’s loan stay at Maidstone but lose forward Danny Hockton who is heading in the opposite direction.

REFEREE (Subject to change): Antony Coggins (Bicester) assisted by V Torre and E Moore.
