St Albans City can cement their place in Vanarama Conference South for another season with one win over the Bank Holiday weekend.

The Saints travel to 17th-placed Bishop’s Stortford on Saturday before welcoming Eastbourne Borough to Clarence Park on Easter Monday.

With Staines Town’s relegation confirmed after Saturday’s goalless draw, it leaves one more space in the drop zone. Farnborough currently occupy it and are six points off safety.

City sit comfortably away from danger, in 15th, with a 13-point cushion with five games remaining.

Spencer Day’s Farnborough will have to win their remaining five games to overhaul the Saints, while James Gray and Graham Golds only need to engineer three more points to be mathematically safe.

The four-day weekend provides two good opportunites to pick up the points needed.

The Saints have met Stortford twice this season, sharing one win each. The win in August should give them cause for optimism.

Eastbourne won 1-0 at their place in August but the Saints put in a good performance. Eastbourne have tumbled down the league since then so they could be vulnerable against a City team looking to cement its league status.
