St Albans City have extended the loan deal of Jonathan Edwards from League One's Peterborough United until the end of the season.

The young striker had initially joined for a month but has impressed, featuring six times, including two starts, and scoring three goals.

Speaking after Saturday’s draw with Bishop’s Stortford, less than two hours before the announcement, caretaker manager Harry Wheeler was giving nothing away.

He told the Herts Ad: “We’re working on that. There’s four clubs in the league above us want him so there’s competition but he wants to be here, he’s told me that.

“He wants to play for us and that can go a long way and if [Peterborough] listen to him, he’ll be our player.

“And if not, then he’ll go elsewhere and we’ll wish him the best.

“But he’s done very well for us.”

A spokesman for the club said on the official website: “The club would like to extend its thanks to Peterborough for assisting us with this.”
