ST ALBANS City make the short trip to Milton Road on Tuesday evening looking to continue where they left off on Saturday.

Under the guidance of former Saints boss Gary Roberts, Cambridge are fancied to be one of the sides battling it out for promotion come the end of the season and will provide a stern test to Saints’ own promotion credentials.

Players

Despite the loss of 21-goal striker David Kolodynski in the summer, Cambridge City are still able to boast an impressive array of attacking talent.

Striker Craig Hammond netted a staggering 38 times last term to earn himself the Premier Division Golden Boot and an array of Player of the Year awards and got his personal tally up and running this season with the winner at Weymouth on Saturday.

The Lilywhites’ midfield is marshalled by former Histon pair Adie Cambridge and Robbie Nightingale with Luke Robins providing the width out on the flank.

The Saints are also set to come up against someone they know very well in left-back Jonathan O’Donnell. JJ secured a one-month loan move to Milton Road on the eve of the new campaign, alongside fellow Luton Town youngster Alex Lacey, with both players enjoying a full 90 minutes at Weymouth on Saturday.

Season so far

Roberts’ men had to work hard to come from behind away at Weymouth on Saturday.

Trailing at the break to Warren Byerley’s 23rd minute header, the Lilywhites reversed their fortunes following the restart drawing level when substitute Neil Midgely guided his effort across the face of goal and inside the far post.

The winner came 13 minutes from time when Luke Robins headed Robbie Nightingale’s diagonal pass back across the face of goal for the unmarked Craig Hammond who prodded the ball home.

Team: Barrett; Nicell, Theobold, Lacey, O’Donnell; Abbs, Nightingale, Cambridge ©, Robins; Hammond, Ogbonna.

Prior to that Cambridge had suffered a 4-3 penalty shootout defeat to Histon in the Cambs Professional Cup after the match had finished 1-1, Hammond again on target this time from the penalty spot.

Team news

Danny Hart will miss out again because of a hamstring issue while fellow midfielder Rob Magwood is set to play for the reserves in their game with Cockfosters tonight (Tuesday) as he returns to action following a spell on the sidelines with concussion.

Forward Paul Furlong is also unavailable for selection.

For Cambridge, striker Dubi Ogbonna is struggling to shake off a knock picked up at Weymouth on Saturday while Lee Chaffey is still making his way back to full fitness following a lengthy lay-off.
