There will be a number of familiar faces in the Royston Town team that travels to Clarence Park but the county cup itself should be all the motivation St Albans City needs according to boss Ian Allinson.

The likes of Joe Welch, Sam Corcoran and Scott Thomas should be available for selection for Steve Castle’s Crows in the Herts Senior Cup quarter-final clash tonight (Tuesday) and Ben Martin would have been too had he not been injured.

But while their appearances will evoke plenty of memories, Allinson insists his current crop of players need to be on their mettle if they are to progress to the last four.

“I’ve told the players they need to put on a performance against Royston as I want to win the County Cup,” said the boss.

“There will be no resting people, the full side will be out and it is a quarter-final.

“Plus there are a lot of ex-St Albans players playing for Royston.

“It’s a game where we have to turn up. Everybody has to be on their game.”
