St Albans City joint manager James Gray expects his side to put right the wrongs of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Wealdstone in tonight's FA Trophy replay.

Dagenham and Redbridge loanee Nathan Green put the Saints in front put a late lapse in concentration allowed Scott McGleish to head home a free-kick and earn the Stones a third qualifying round replay.

Speaking the Saintsnet after the game, Gray bemoaned his side’s lack of ruthlessness in front of goal, their run of poor luck and the fact they didn’t “take the game to Wealdstone” as much as he’d like.

He expects tonight’s tie to be different.

“We we’re well on top in the second half, forcing the issue and creating chances but we didn’t tale full advantage of it. We were sloppy in final third. If we’ve have been a bit cuter then could have opened them up more often than we did,” he said.

“I would have liked to see us take the game to them a bit more with [Lee Chappell] or [Nathan Green] down the left but the final ball was lacking, not just from them. We could do with a bit of luck in front of goal, too. John Frendo needs a goal to get his confidence back but I’m sure we’ll put it right on Tuesday.”

City beat Gordon Bartlett’s Stones at Grosvenor Vale 3-0 earlier in the season thanks to a Frendo brace either side of a Lee Clarke strike.

“We’ve got to down there and get the win. We’ll be refreshed and we’ll try to finish the job but it’s not going to be easy because Wealdstone are in good form. It’s going to be a tough night but one we’re looking forward to,” said Gray.

Tonight’s game kicks off at 7.45pm.
