St Albans City lost 2-1 to Whitehawk in the Vanarama Conference South on the south coast on Saturday.

Danny Mills opened the scoring inside five minutes, poking home after a melee in the box, but the Saints hit back with a 38th minute header from Omar Beckles.

Whitehawk went into the break leading 2-1 after debutant Scott Neilson linked up with Mills to thunder the ball past Joe Welch in the 43rd minute.

Whitehawk controlled the midfield in the second half as they kept their promotion push going.

City are at home against Wealdstone on Saturday, 3pm kick-off.
