St Albans City’s squad will be bolstered on Saturday with the return of Sam Corcoran.

The 24-year-old missed the last two games through suspension after picking up his 10th booking at Maidenhead United. To make matters worse, James Comley was sent off in the same game and has one more game to serve on his three-match ban.

Despite welcoming fourth-place Basingstoke Town to Clarence Park on Saturday, 3pm kick-off, Corcoran’s place is not assured, especially after the midfield trio of James Kaloczi, Omar Beckles and Charlie Gorman impressed in Tuesday’s goalless draw at Havant and Waterlooville.

“Corkers is a big player for us. He’s one of our ball-playing midfielders and he makes things happen,” said Gray.

“When you go out, for whatever reason, it’s difficult to get back in - that’s how it should be, with competition all over the field. We’ll cross that bridge on Saturday, but it’s a nice decision to have to make.”
