Confidence sky-high for Saints and Da Costa after wonder goal sinks Clarets

Khale Da Costa's wonder goal against Chelmsford City is a sure sign of the confidence St Albans City players have for the end of season run-in.
That is according to the player himself who from a personal view was just delighted to be playing.
He said: “It’s been a build-up of so many things, and things I’ve been doing off the field as well, extra training and stuff.
“I’m just working hard, trying to work my socks off.”
The goal was the final strike in the 3-1 win and was a joy to watch for all those wearing yellow and blue inside Clarence Park.
Da Costa was slipped the ball outside the box and with a stunning touch and turn he found himself in acres of space and one on one with the keeper.
And not content with that display of skill he then looked up and with the deftest of chips left Nathan McDonald grasping at thin air as the ball sailed over and into the net.
“I don’t know how it happened to be fair, it was just instinct,” said the modest winger, smiling.
“I saw him off his line and I thought I’d just go for it.
“I’ve done that in a friendly before so I thought lets just do it again. Thankfully it came off.
“It’s a nice relief because it’s been tough for me, being in and out of the team, but I’ve just got to get my head down and keep working hard.
“From here we just need to build and as a team we need to get into the play-offs.”
The win against one of the sides already in those National League South play-off places moves Saints to within just two points of the top seven.
Four games remain and they include another three of the sides above the Saints, including champions-elect Torquay United who arrive in Hertfordshire on the final day of the season.
Da Costa though was in a bullish mood when asked to give his thoughts on the run-in.
He said: “The confidence is high and we don’t fear anybody, I’ve said it all season.
“We just have to go out there and grab results and we’re better against the bigger teams as results have shown.
“We can take anybody on our day.”
