St Albans City Youth: Scottish success for disability squad

The Saints did St Albans proud by winning the tournament after triumphing in every match, including one against Scotland’s champions.

U18 West earned a point after a 1-1 draw with Northwood Blue. Jack Collard scored for the West and they also hit the bar with another effort.

Keeper Luka Fadrique earned the man of the match (MOM) award for the U18 East following another great display in goal despite his side losing 3–0 to Garston Boys in the League.

Goals from Sian Khan-Boylan and Jordan Wonnacott gave the U16 Boreal a 2–1 win over Watford Town with the MOM going to William O’Brian.

Playing at home in the Challenge Cup to Oakhill Tigers the U16 Warriors went down 6-2, with goals from Ed Anders and Jake Ponte. Jamal Baig was MOM.

MOM Samual Waters-Rathjen scored the only goal for the U16 West in their 2–1 defeat away to Bovingdon.

Two goals from Charlie Bennett plus a goal each for Lorenzo Federici and Charlie Lunnis gave the U15 North a 4–1 victory at Acorn Raiders in the Challenge Cup. MOM was Jacob Grisenthwaite.

At home to AEK Athens the U15 lost 4-2. Goals came from Charlie Gordon and Luke Winks, their MOM was shared between Finlay Wood and Tom Goldstone.

Playing Crouch End were the U15 West who lost 4–1, the Saints goal came from MOM Alex Journet.

The U15 Orient swept Nascot Wood Rangers Eagles 8–2. Scorers were Zac Moore (two), Isaac Keeley (two), Elliot Mason, Tom Nicolson, Oscar Rutherford-Hughes and Owen Ladbrook. The MOM went to George Gilliam.

At home to Enfield Rangers were the U14 East, despite them only fielding 10 players they still went on to win the game 2 – 1. Scoring the goals for the East were Dan Miles and Ollie Barnett. Making a string of fine saves was keeper Jake Penny who was awarded the man of the match tile.

Continuing their unbeaten run to seven out of seven were the U14 South as they beat London Maccabi Lions Blue 5–1. MOM Franky Williams scored a hat-trick with Jack Mooney and Louis Danton rounding off the scoreline with a goal each.

The U14 North won 4-0 at Olympiacos with two goals from man of the match James McCallum plus singles from Oliver Hann and Ethan Radus.

Goals from Tom Kerr, Matty Gallagher and Gianpaulo Manzi gave the U14 West a 3–2 victory over Berkhamsted White, Sam Lawrence was MOM.

At home to Chorleywood Lions were the U14 Orient, however the visitors sharpened their claws as they beat the Orient 6–2. Josh Ali and Harry Young scored the goals for the Saints.

The U14 Central lost 7-1 to Sandridge Rovers with Samuel Abington scoring the consolation. Adam Purkis was MOM.

At home to Panathinaikos the U13 North cruised to a 4–0 victory with man of the match Harry Smith scoring two goals.

Other goals came from Jack Hughes and Dominic Dee. Keeper Nathan Glasscoe had a brilliant match between the sticks.

The U13 South had a great result as they defeated league leaders London Maccabi Lions 4–1.

Ross Weaver scored two, while both Tom Kellard and Jed Lumb scored a goal each. Harrison Arnold was MOM.

In the Challenge Cup the U13 West took on Harpenden Pumas who play two divisions above. Despite stand-in keeper Kwame Youri saving a penalty the West went out of the cup 8–0 defeat.

The strike force of Elliot Osborn and Gwil Parks scored a goal apiece for the U13 East as lost 4-2 to Hemel Athletic. Mohammed Mazari was MOM.

Playing away to Rickmansworth Rook in the Senior League Cup were the U12 North who scored three goals in each half to win the game 6–0.

Emir Johnston, Jarvis Wilkins, Joe Curran, Joe Williams, Billy Owen and Thomas Geller netted with Finn Murphy MOM.

The U12 East played Abbots Youth in the first round of the Challenge Cup and goals from Swaley Smith (two), Bradley Osborn and Harry Peter gave them a 4-0 victory. MOM was Sam Jackson-Hale.

In the Intermediate Cup the U12 Orient lost 2–1 to Berkhamsted Raiders Green with Joshua Cross scoring. Tommy Edwell was MOM.

Daniel Ludwig and Freddie Collins scored the for the U11s North in their 2–2 draw with Ware Ranger, MOM was Will Monk.

Playing away to Ware Youth saw the U11 South won 2–1 with Louis Baker-Madec and Sam Doidge scoring.

Jake Fleming was MOM.

In an evenly match game between the U11 West and Broxbourne V & E Royals the game ended in a draw at 2–2. Scoring for the West were Matthew Roome and Louis Johnston. MOM was keeper Joe Scragg.

The U11 Central lost 6-1 to Wheathamstead Wanderers Sharks. MOM was scorer Jon Hargreaves.

The U11 Orient competed well for most of the match against King George, but three breakaway goals towards the end sealed a 5–0 win for King George. Daniel Sands was MOM.

In the Intermediate League Cup were the U11 East who were away to Croxley Guild.

The game saw the East come away with a sound 5–2 victory.

Alex Manzi hit four goals and Muba Kiomone scored the fifth. Dylan Winfield was MOM.

U10 West inflicted a defeat on a Wheathampstead Wanderers side that had been unbeaten for around three seasons.

City ran out as convincing 5-1 winners with goals from Luke Roberts (two), Ed McJannet, Jack Cullen and Huw Dawson.

Away to Watford Town in the Challenge Cup were the U10 North who came away with a 4–2 win thanks to goals from Jack Carmichael (two), Sam McKenna and Ryan Corcoran. Daniel Curran was MOM.

Losing 2–1 at home to Garston Boys in the Challenge Cup were the U10 South with George Sippetts scoring their only goal. Danny Fowler was MOM.

The U10 Central lost 4–0 against Cuffley with keeper Sean McMullen MOM.

The U10 East Yellow defeated Frontiers Youth Panthers 5–1 with goals from Jamie Hilton (two), Tom Merritt, Sammy Gosine and Alexander Raudnitz.

Playing away to Panshanger saw the U10 East Blue take part in a one-sided match which saw the East in fine form as they went on to win 7–1.

Scoring the goals were Nico Mohan (two), Orlando Cummins, Charlie Battle, Daniel Gant, Luke McAndrew and Alessandro Di Trolio.

Another team that turned in a brilliant performance were the Under 9’s North who won 4–2 away at Ware Youth with two goals from Joseph Beardon, plus one each for Ben Freestone and Harrison Shaw.

Playing at home to Broxbourne V & E Blues saw the U9 South go down 3–1 with MOM Charlie Johnson scoring their only goal.

Goals from George Wilson, Kaspar Jockich and man of the match Teddy Dunning gave the U9 East a 3–2 away win over Ware Lions.

In the first of the weekends fun matches the U8 North played King George Vipers. Scoring the goals were Cadima-Mukasa Lusiola (two), Bradley Smith, Edward Askam and Joshua Addo.

Joseph Varney and Sam Ejjayha both scored in the fun match between Ware Youth Clarets. Harry Cooke was MOM.

In a great fun game between the U8 Victoria away at Berkhamsted Raiders there were plenty of chances for both sides. Goals were scored by Zak Davies and Freddie Roe.

For the seventh match in a row, the U14 Girls North turned in a winning performance with a 2–1 home win over Garston Ladies.

Melissa Godino and MOM Emily Schofield scored.

The U14 Girls South won 2–0 against Bury Rangers with goals from Rosie McGahan and Lauryn Edwell. Keeper Aimee Smith won POM.

Following a strong physical match the U13 Girls South just edged it with a 1 – 0 win away at Hampstead. The team was well led by Captain Ellie Holder and it was Laurn Standing who scored the winning goal.

Although the U13 Girls North lost away to Garston Girls 2–0, Lorna Speed was player of the match.

In a Cup match in which the U12 Girls were in total command they went on to a 7–1 victory over Kings Langley Belles.

The goals came from POM Jess Simpson (two), Hannah Martin (two), Maz Horne-Batet (two) and Alice Benson.

Playing at home to Bishop’s Stortford were the U11 Girls who also hit seven goals as they won 7–2 with Olivia Banks (three), Ellie Flynn (two), Charlotte Gurney and Susannah Weidsmann scoring with Masie Grayland POM.

The U10 Girls demolished Hoddesdon Girls 9-0 with Grace Oldman (three), Madeline Caffery (two), Jasmine Price (two), Amy Newman and Zoe Cowan netting.

Kiera Ward and Tatyana Barton both scored goals in the fun game between the U9 Girls and Bedwell Rangers. POM went to Orla Moss.
