St Albans City’s management will sit down with the chairman next week to review the season so far.

Joint managers James Gray and Graham Golds will meet with Nick Archer following Saturday’s game at Wealdstone to discuss the first 10 games of the season and how the club can improve.

Speaking ahead of the weekend, Archer told the Herts Ad: “We’ve said from the start of the season that we’d review it after 10 games. The points total is looking promising but hopefully we can push on a little bit more during the next 10 games.

“Success in the FA Cup and FA Trophy would be nice too – that’s the aim at this moment in time.”

He added: “We’re not going to sit on our laurels and say ‘we’ve made it, the Conference South is good enough’. We want to push on as high as possible while working within the resources available.”

St Albans sit in ninth place in the Vanarama Conference South after nine games, five spots ahead of the next highest promoted team, Hemel Hempstead Town.

City struggled through an extremely tough run of four games against title favourites but they have since picked up four points from six to add to the nine they won from three consecutive wins.

Squad-wise, City have been active since the start of the campaign, sending Matt Taylor, Elliot Bailey and James Kaloczi out on loan as well as temporarily bringing in Charlie Gorman and Sean Shields and signing Geoff Mitchell.

“We won’t be able to add massively should we need to but we’ve got a very good squad,” said Archer.

“As long as they all stay fit then there’s a good season to be had. All is well at the moment.”

Away from the first-team, the reserve side is third in the Capital Football League and the U18s are joint second in the Eastern Junior Alliance.

“We’ve always wanted development squads that create a clear path to the first team, and how we have them, which is good,” explained Archer.
