St Albans Centurions were just one club invited to the Houses of Parliament to celebrate rugby league in and around the capital.
The event last month was held in conjunction with the London Rugby League Foundation (LRLF), a charitable trust which aims to increase participation and engagement.
Centurions’ chairman, Brian Parker, and player Sam Norris, were joined by Members of the Parliamentary Rugby League Group to showcase the strength of the sport in and around London.
Parker said: “It was very good to see the breadth and depth of support for the game in London and the South East, and we are already looking forward to the 2016 season.”
Commenting on the event, chairman of the Parliamentary Rugby League Group, Greg Mulholland MP said: “It was great to bring clubs from London and the South East to Parliament for a celebration of rugby league.
“I enjoyed meeting volunteers who work hard to develop the game, and hope that both the Parliamentary Rugby League Group and their local MPs will be able to offer continued support.”
Dan Steel, director of the LRLF, said: “This was an excellent illustration of the support for rugby league in and around London.
