St Albans Bowls Club start season with a draw

ST ALBANS Bowling Club got its season underway on Saturday with a 66-66 draw against Wardown Park.

It was a friendly game of three mixed triples with the top rink was Paddy Boyle, Mike Jefferies, and Eileen Cox, winning 22-5.

On Sunday, SABC welcomed Rowley Lane BC. St Albans did not fare very well across the four men’s rinks and two ladies rinks, losing the match 96-151. St Albans’ best rink was Pauline Gardiner, Sylvia Cooper, Brenda Pitkin and Jacy Farrer, winning 23-14.

The first sessions of three free bowls coaching courses took place last week. Twenty nine participants have enrolled. The courses continue for another three weeks. If you are interested in joining one of them, contact Tricia Gascoine by email a.gascoine@ntlworld.com or 01727 860298.
