Youngster nets twice in extra time
A BRACE from Sean Shields in extra time earned St Albans City Reserves a place in the South Midlands Division One Cup Final.
Shields struck in the 92nd and 96th minutes against Hoddesdon Town after a scoreless 90 minutes had taken the game into extra time.
Coach Alexis Nicolas told the club’s website: “It’s hard to pick out individuals as every player did their job and followed the game plan we set out. Getting to the Final is just reward for the team’s effort throughout the season.”
The other semi-final took place last night (Thursday) but was abandoned in the final minute due to floodlight failure. AFC Dunstable, the home side, were leading 3-0 against league leaders Berkhamsted at the time of the abandonment.
