Shenley Village 201-8 beat Sawbridgeworth II 170 by 31 runs
Shenley Village were rewarded with another valuable 30 points to boost their promotion hopes as they returned victorious from the long away trip to Sawbridgeworth with a 31-run win.
Having lost the toss and been put in to bat on a damp, green wicket, Shenley were at one stage reduced to 30-3. The middle order of Jemile Al-Darraji and Rob Laney recovered things - surviving a dropped catch - and the pair went on to make a 120-run partnership before Laney was out for 61. Al-Darraji ended unbeaten on 96 as the visitors held on for a total of 202-8 after their 53 overs. The best of the bowlers for the home side was Andrew Foster (3-47).
In reply, Shenley strike bowler Wendell Roberts tore through the Sawbridgeworth batting, ending with figures of 8-66 off 16.5 overs. With Lloyd Willingham and Al-Darraji also taking one apiece, the game ended with the home side dismissed for 170.
They face Evershot at the Shenley Cricket Centre on Saturday, with a 1.30pm start time.
