SHENLEY Village Under 12s emerged victorious after a stunning bowling display against Redbourn Under 12s on Friday, June 27 at Rowley Lane Sports Ground.

On an overcast evening, with rain always threatening to interrupt the game, Shenley Village won the toss and elected to bat.

Redbourn immediately applied pressure, with Shenley reduced to 4-1 after two overs. Ishaan Patel (31 retired) continued his formidable batting form to lead the recovery and another strong display by William Holland (19) consolidated Shenley's position with 81 runs coming from the next 10 overs.

Mayowa Balogun smashed seven fours as he hit 30 before retiring and Miland Chohan (25) followed with a good knock.

A late contribution by Ian Harris, cracking two fours, set up Shenley to reach an impressive total of 139-6. For the visitors, Davey responded well in his second spell, to finish on figures of 2-28.

In reply, Redbourn struggled to match the pace of the Shenley bowling. Mayowa Balogun and Ishaan Patel applied pressure on the top order to restrict the visitors to 27-1 after eight overs.

The second line attack of Charlie Thurston (3-6) and Ian Harris (4-4) tore into the Redbourn line-up with Ian achieving two double wicket maidens in a fantastic spell.

Some fine fielding, including a superb direct hit run out by Miland Chohan from deep leg, left the visitors on 37-9 in the 16th over. Niraj Shah captured the final wicket with his second ball, handing Shenley a convincing 102 run win.
