Wheathampstead club secure festival title
YOUTH FOOTBALL: THE Sharks, one of four U9 teams that the Wheathampstead club run, beat 19 other clubs from Herts, Beds and Essex to claim this prestigious trophy, and in the process, managed to go undefeated throughout the festival. They won their group comfortably with some free-flowing football and progressed through the quarter and semi-final stages beating sides from Stevenage Boro, Arlesey Town, Bishop’s Stortford and the hosts Letchworth on route to the final.
The boys beat a strong Woodford side from Essex in the final 1-0 with the team’s top scorer, James Everitt, snatching the winning goal with a fine opportunistic finish allowing the Sharks to claim their first piece of silverware.
