A stirring comeback will hopefully provide the springboard for Oaklands Wolves as they get set for Saturday’s WBBL Cup quarter-final against Team Northumbria.

They trailed by 30 points at half-time at Manchester Mystics in the WBBL but recovered to suffer just a narrow 69-61 defeat.

Coach Lee Ryan said: “We didn’t have the right attitude or energy to open the game which put us in a hole.

“But the second 20 showed what we’re capable of and the result would have gone our way had we started right

“We can see so much improvement in our execution. We are no longer turning up trying to compete; we’re looking to win.

“Northumbria showed us earlier in the season they are a solid team. That was a wake-up call and the players have really stepped up since.

“The players understand how to play together and get the best from each other and it’s time to put it together for a full 40 minutes.”
