ST ALBANS District open their outdoor season with the prestigious Maurice Watson Trophy at Townsend where the 16 local clubs compete. This year president Stuart Mather has negotiated sponsorship with Famous Grouse for which the District are appreciative.
ST ALBANS District open their outdoor season with the prestigious Maurice Watson Trophy at Townsend where the 16 local clubs compete.
This year president Stuart Mather has negotiated sponsorship with Famous Grouse for which the District are appreciative.
Mr Mather says this type of sponsorship enhances the image of bowls as a sport and Lucy Astill from the sponsors says Famous Grouse are delighted to be involved with grass roots bowls.
This promises to be a good day's bowling with the host club the current trophy holders. Spectators are invited to come along and enjoy the game from 2pm onwards and the bar is open all day to sample the sponsor's product as well as a range of fine ales.
