Randeep Sanghera took six wickets, his best figures this season, to inspire Radlett to a four-wicket victory over Saracens Herts Premier League basement side Hemel Hempstead.

It was the right-arm quick’s first multiple-wicket game in the league this summer and his third in total, with the other two coming in ECB National Club Championship matches.

Ben Lederman and Shane Burger set up Sanghera’s scintillating display with an incredible spell of bowling. Both opening batsmen - Hemish Ilangaratne and Ed Langley - were out for a duck and Burger picked up his second wicket, Sam Jenkinson for four, as Hemel fell out of the gate, reaching 4-3.

From there on, Sanghera had the Cobden Hill pitch singing as he deceived the batting line-up.

His first wicket was a peach to Brett Penny that the batsman failed to pick up on its way to smashing the stumps. His second was a carbon copy as he sent Alistair Leighton back to the clubhouse for a duck.

Vibhor Yadav had provided stubborn resistance on his way to 61, Hemel’s highest score of the innings, but there was nothing he could do against Sanghera who rapped him on the pads to have him out LBW.

His bowling had already proved too good for the middle order so the tail stood no chance. Sanghera had Brad Finch caught for 33 and then blew the last two batsmen away - neither got off the mark - as the innings closed on 166.

Chasing their second lowest target of the season, Joe Cooke, in for Kabir Toor after the opener was out for 23, and Fraser Crawford did the majority of the heavy lifting with a 72-run stand for the second wicket that put Radlett within 62 runs of victory.

Penny broke the partnership, catching Crawford for 35, and Cooke followed soon after for 37. Two more quick wickets put the reply in more trouble than Radlett had expected, but, after William Wright was trapped LBW for eight, Rob Clements and Charlie Nicholls knocked off the final runs to keep Radlett on top in the Premier League.
