SANDRIDGE secured their first win of the season with a comfortable eight-wicket victory over neighbours Hatfield & Crusaders at Spencer Meadows.

The visitors won the toss and decided to bat first. John Murphy produced the early breakthrough and took wickets throughout the Hatfield & Crusaders innings, finishing with figure of 6-48.

Lawrence White supported him well at the other end picking up a wicket courtesy of some excellent cricket from Albie Kerry, making his return to Sandridge. Lennie Peters (2-16) and Duncan Ferguson took wickets to dismiss Hatfield for 108.

Kerry (26) started well before running himself out. At the other end Adam Temple kept the score ticking over before he was dismissed.

With rain on the horizon, Dave Allen (20no) and Paul Rothery (40no) saw Sandridge to victory before the weather played any part in the game.

Sandridge sit atop the league after two games and will look to consolidate their position when they travel to second from bottom Chipperfield Clarendon on Saturday.

• Sandridge 2s (149-3) beat Abbotts Langley (148) by seven wickets. Having elected to bowl, leg spinner Matt Miller (5-47) and seamer Dave Muskett (2-27) returned the best figures.

Fresh from his maiden century the previous week, opener Matt Scott continued his rich vein of form scoring an unbeaten 69, ably supported by Jack Shepherd 46, putting together a partnership of 92.
