Sandidge 176 lost to Met Police 179-5 by 5 wickets

SANDRIDGE were unable to upset the odds as top of the table Met Police recorded a five wicket victory.

Met Police won the toss and put Sandridge in on a wicket that was offering plenty of seam movement to the opening bowlers.

Sandrige lost Adam Temple and Ian Merryfield early, and with ball doing plenty it seemed that this was going to be a difficult day for the incoming batsman.

Opener Peter Camm (25) was looking solid but struggling to find gaps in the field, fortunately Andy Norman (15) and Dave Corran (20) both played little cameos but failed to take it on from there.

Finally though Kim Nguyen (50) broke the shackles of the tight Met Police attack and proceeded to dominate the proceedings, striking fours and sixes to all corners of the ground.

Sandride finally finished on 176 all out, probably 25 runs short of what they looked like achieving at one stage in the game.

The Sandridge bowlers were all fired up and Dave Muskett (3-45) soon removed the opener and the their number three, superbly caught in the slips by Corran.

Backed up by skipper John Murphy (2-74) they had Met Police in serious trouble.

But then they losing spinner Corran to injury and fielding with ten players, the opposition middle order fought back.

The game became very tense with overs running out, and despite some tight bowling and good ground fielding, Met Police finally got home to win by five wickets.
