Sandridge 2nds finally managed to halt their recent slide with a hard fought draw against Pirton.

Pirton won the toss and on a good batting strip and fast outfield put on 50 for the first wicket before the Sandridge bowlers began to slowly exert some control. David Camm was the pick of the bowlers with 5-46 from 16 overs. Pirton finally finished their innings on 165-6.

Following a heavy downpour Sandridge`s run chase was reduced to 42 overs, and the wicket which had been benign all afternoon was now helping the bowlers with excessive bounce.

Once again, Sandridge got off to a disastrous start, losing the top five batsman, apart from Matt Scott (32), for a handful of runs. Defeat looked on the cards with the score on 49-6, but a defiant seventh-wicket partnership of 60 runs between skipper Dave Muskett (32) and Graham Perrin (17) saw Sandridge finally reach a respectable total of 109-8 and the game ended in a draw.

Sandridge are at home next week to Harpenden Dolphins and will be hoping their batsman finally rediscover their form.
