Although it wasn't the Saints at their best, a determined performance eventually brought about three useful points over a youthful Hatfield outfit.

For the second week running a blustery wind spoilt the game making control and distribution very difficult for both sides, resulting in wayward and wasted passes far too often.
Manager Dave Whitehead was again forced into making team changes due to injuries and other commitments but he was able to welcome back Richard Ellis, Mark Savory, Chris Eames, Dean Jones and Stewart Nicholls.

The game was only 10 minutes old when Ross Wiltshire was forced out of action due to a neck injury with forward Mark Savory, returning to action after a month on the injury list, taking his place.
Midfielder Sam Mardle slotted into the defence where he formed a solid partnership with Tony Gauthier and Jones.
Despite having the worse of the strong wind in their faces during the first period, the Saints had a lot of possession which unfortunately they wasted.
Against the run of play the home side took the lead late in the first half. Looking for the offside decision, the Saints were caught out as Jordan Thurgood raced away before rounding 'keeper Winston Seidu to make it 1-0.
A good half-time chat drew the right response as the Saints went for the equaliser. It duly came when Danny Blyth's deep right flank cross found the head of Gauthier to draw Saints level.
A couple of blocks by Seidu kept out a brief Hatfield rally, before the Saints edged in front through Chris Eames following good work by Jamie Eames.
By this time the young Hatfield side looked tired and listless, enabling the Saints to take complete control and add a third goal, Richard Ellis afforded the time and space to volley home.
Further half chances were wasted by the Saints in the final 10 minutes but victory was already theirs.
The Saints have no fixture next weekend as they were given a bye in the first round of the Herts Intermediate Cup.
