St Albans 177-7 beat North Mymms 173-6 by four runs
ST ALBANS recorded their first league victory of the season as they overcame North Mymms at a blustery Clarence Park.
Captain Martin Jones won the toss and put North Mymms into bat. The visitors had reached 43 before Saxby was dismissed and they then struggled against the St Albans bowlers, particularly Murty Hussain who produced an excellent spell of bowling with just 55 runs coming off his 27 overs as North Mymms reached lunch with just 100 on the board.
Two quick wickets fell after lunch as the visitors made 173 off their allotted overs.
St Albans' ace batsman Phil Caley got the home side off to a brisk start scoring 28 before he was caught.
Despite wickets falling at regular intervals St Albans held on for the win with Matt Howeson top scoring with 47.
