ONE point from the final two games of the campaign will secure Blue Square South survival for St Albans City after Weston-super-Mare were held 3-3 by Basingstoke Town on Monday.

Hosts Weston led 3-1 and looked set to put the pressure back on Saints only for two strikes in four minutes from Basingstoke forward James Taylor to make the final score 3-3.

City now know that a point from the clash at Maidenhead United tonight (Tuesday) will leave them four points clear of danger with just one round of fixtures remaining.

The thrilling win at home to Eastleigh on Saturday made it four successive home victories for Castle's men. They finish the campaign at home to Hampton & Richmond on Saturday, April 26 and Castle will be hoping his impressive side can make it a famous five home wins on the bounce.

The manager hailed the contribution of goalscorers Bradley Gray and Akanni-Sunday Wasiu after their heroics saw off Eastleigh. Gray, who scored his first City goal against Bishop's Stortford in February, was given permission to play by parent club Leyton Orient and marked his impressive return with a superb goal to level just after the hour mark. Sunday then weaved his way through the defence before crashing in the second and embarrassed goalkeeper Jason Matthews to net the crucial third. Castle said: "I am very, very pleased with Bradley Gray. He is such a refreshing lad in his approach to his game and to be fair he is a centre forward not a wide right player. I put him out there and it is benefitting him because he has gone back to Leyton Orient and been scoring for fun.

"With Sunday it has been coming. He has applied himself very well. Sunday is always going to be a handful and he got a great goal. We have been waiting for him to have a shot. He has got a fantastic first touch and his goal was executed fantastically."

Manager Steve Castle has masterminded an incredible run of six wins and two draws from nine games.
