St Albans City U18 went out of the FA Youth Cup at the hands of Brentwood after a very poor first half cost them a place in the next round.
Saints went a goal down early on but soon recovered when Oli Seymour netted.
The good work was undone, though, as the players’ concentration waned and Brentwood scored twice. They were given a glimmer of hope when Charlie Payne reduced the deficit with a goal just before half-time.
The second half was a much improved performance and Charlie Harris, Seymour and Jacob Trigg all went close as the Saints pushed for the equaliser. Unfortunately the third goal didn’t come and they were knocked out of the competition.
Team: Pitts, Dixon, Yapp, Blyth, Ryder, McCarthy, Payne, Cobb, Seymour, Trigg, Brown. Subs: Linsell, Harris, Gunn, Nevin, Palfrey.
