PRE-SEASON activities are already underway for St Peter's FC.

The Saints started training on Tuesday (June 30) evening at Francis Bacon School playing fields, Drakes Drive, St Albans, with Saturday sessions at the school due to commence this Saturday (July 4) at 2pm.

Friendly fixtures are at present being arranged before the season proper in the Herts Senior County League Division One gets underway on Saturday, August 15.

Serious doubts hindered the future of the Saints at one point, but they have decided to give it another go despite last season's big problems.

Plans to establish a merger with local Mid/North Herts League club London Road (Saturdays) failed to materialise, although the two outfits will work together throughout the coming season.

The Saints are also advertising for a new manager. Mitch Morris has held the position for four years but has called it a day bringing about the changes. Morris has promised to assist the new man, who will have a tough task in returning the club to better days.

Long-serving player and assistant manager Tony Gauthier will continue in his usual role for yet another term.

Anyone interested in joining the Saints are most welcome at training sessions, or can contact club chairman John Lister on 07708 562214 or Tony Gauthier on 07912 427164.
