St Albans City won’t be facing Northants side next season
ST ALBANS City will not be facing Rushden & Diamonds in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier next season after the Northamptonshire side was refused entry to the league.
Rushden were expelled from the Conference earlier this summer after getting into financial difficulties but had hoped to take their place alongside the Saints the Southern Premier.
However the Diamonds, who were placed in administration this week, have failed to satisfy the league’s officials of their ability to fulfil their fixtures next season and as a result have been denied entry to the league.
A statement from the league said that the club had failed to meet its conditions for entry into the league by the agreed deadline of July 6.
