THE depleted Vees Chariots Under 14s relished the challenge when they ran out against Welwyn.

Both sides showed an eagerness to attack but Welwyn won the majority of line-out ball to gain the edge on possession. Some fierce mauling by the Vees went unrewarded after a knock on but hard-working Ri Dollie bundled the Welwyn winger into touch to avoid a certain try.

Welwyn led comfortably at the break but the Vees came out in the second half with renewed determination and, after winning a Welwyn lineout, Matt Lord's speed and timely offload was finished by Dan Monaghan to put the Vees on the scoreboard.

With notably improved handling and possession the Vees were able to gain territory and following a Welwyn scrum at five metres, quick-thinking scrum half Ollie Cusack stole a floating pass to snatch the home side's second try.
