Keen to put the previous week’s performance behind them, they opened the scoring on seven minutes with an unconverted try by number eight Aaron Priscott.

But OVs hit back with a penalty from Jack Lawrence, before Aled Davies ran under the posts and captain Jack Reilly added the extras for a 12-3 Tabard lead.

Lawrence landed another penalty for the hosts on 24 minutes, but Priscott claimed Reilly’s high ball from the restart and knocked it back to Harry Gough, who sent it wide for Charlie Sandison to run in at the corner.

A third Lawrence penalty left OVs eight points adrift, only for Sandison to run in his second try of the afternoon soon after to make it 24-9 at half time.

Tabard head coach Cam O’Connor asked his side to iron out their mistakes during the interval and they opened the second-half scoring through Priscott, who showed good pace out wide to go over for another unconverted try on 53 minutes.

Full-back Deniyi Olashore then put Sandison in space and a fine offload in return allowed him to go over on the hour.

A poor clearance was then seized upon by Davies who passed to Priscott to go over for his hat-trick, with the try converted for a 41-9 lead.

With just over 10 minutes left and having dominated all day, the Tabard scrum then drove its way over from five metres, with second row George Hurford claiming the final touch.

Tabard were not finished yet, though, and brought up their half-century with five minutes remaining when a good platform was set for winger Johnny Aguila to beat four defenders on the wing before being brought down close to the line.

After recycling the ball from the ruck, Priscott crashed over for his fourth try to complete the tally for Tabard, who are set to play host to London Welsh this weekend.

OVs will hope for better as they visit newly relegated Harrow, aided by the prospect of some long-standing quality players gradually returning to their side.

Tabard: B Lake, Van Loen, W Lake, Hurford, James, kenny, T Gough, Priscott, Glynn, H Gough, Aguila, Reilly, Davies, Sandison, Olashore. Reps: Tilley, Hancock, S Gough.
