TABARD completed their league season with a fine win over Fullerians on Saturday, running in eight tries in a resounding 52 points to nil victory.
Virtually from the start of the game it became obvious that Tabard were a much more coherent team, using their forwards and backs together, to drive the ball forwards at every opportunity.
Wing Liam Kenney opened the Tabard scoring with his first touch of the ball, having come on as a replacement. From Tabard pressure centre Joe Calnan made the initial break, prop Bill Lake was in support and gave Kenney the scoring pass, for him to touch down in the corner.
There was then a period of defence for Fullerians, where they also showed their attacking flair but eventually Tabard wore them down and a spate of tries completed the first half.
Stand off Jack Reilly got the next try, bullying his way through the cover defence to touch down for the score, which he converted. For the next try, Tabard centre Gerry Arasa intercepted a Fullerians pass and knocked the ball back into the hands of flanker Tom Davies who ran in from his own half for the converted score.
Second row Sam Barrow then a got a good score, fielding the ball virtually from the ground and sprinting through for the try. Again Reilly converted.
The final score of the half came from Davies. This time Tabard went through the phases and Davies finished it off with Reilly converting to complete the first half scoring.
The second half was similar to the first with Tabard grinding their opponents down and Fullerians showing some occasional flair.
Number 8, Paul Fagan, got Tabard’s next try when he grounded the ball following a forward drive. Joe Calnan then scored after the ball was passed quickly away from the set piece scrum and this was followed by second row Dan Calnan touching down after the ball had gone loose. Reilly converted both to complete the scoreing
