John Andrews announces he is stepping down at the end of the season

ST ALBANS RFC have begun their search for a new head coach after John Andrews’ announced that he would be stepping down at the end of the season.

Andrews has been responsible for developing the Saints XV over the last two season and now believes he has taken the team as far as he can.

The club is now looking for a coach with a proven track record and significant experience to come in and take the team forward.

“This last two seasons has been fantastic.” Andrews told the club’s official website.

“When I took the role on I was nervous that stepping up from being a player would be incredibly difficult. However, the players gave me their support and after a tough first season, everyone took the learnings and this year we are fighting for promotion.”

“However, as a coach my job is to be honest with myself and the players. When I sat down to start planning next season and how to improve further, I kept coming back to the same answer - fresh ideas from an experienced coach. This club means the world to me and I will always be around for advice and may even lace up the boots again for next season.”

St Albans currently sit in third place in London Two North West with promotion still a possibility as well as the Herts President’s Tanakrd.

St Albans RFC are now accepting applications for Andrews’ replacement.

The Saints suffered a 25-8 defeat away at U.C.S Old Boys on Saturday. This weekend they welcome Fullerians to Boggymead Spring.
