OA Saints are still searching for a win in the Women’s Premiership suffering an unanswered defeat at the hands of second placed Worcester.
Worcester started well with a try after five minutes, shifting the ball wide from a turnover and out flanking the Saints.
Continued pressure from Worcester resulted in further turnover ball that they capitilised with impressive speed and accuracy by the plethora of England players amongst their ranks.
The Saints had breaks from Claire McKenna and Simone Shepherd but were halted by a well drilled Worcester backline.
Despite working hard, the Saints had no answer to Worcester’s pressure and the half ended with Worcester five tries up.
The Saints never give up and the first 25 minutes of the second half were a stalemate, with Saints defence holding fast with impressive tackling from Geri Thomas and Angela Wadham and good hassle from Saints scrum-half Tasha Saint-Smith, while Worcester managed to halt breaks from the Saints centres Shepherd and Karina Page and fly-half Sarah McKenna .
Finally the pressure told with an impressive run from England World Cup full-back Waterman with an individual run over the line. Saints had some exciting chances as their dominance in the scrums showed getting agonisingly close to the line, but were unable to convert the chances.
The final answer came from Worcester sealing an impressive seven-try win, but credit to Saints who toiled and kept their head ups throughout.
