OA Saints suffered their first loss of the season on Sunday as they were knocked out of the RFU Intermediate Cup.
Players of the match
Forward of the match - Abbie Maxwell
Back of the match - Nicky Cameron.
Having won the Championship South East Two without dropping a game, it took a team, Henley Hawks, from the higher division to end their remarkable run of victories. Still, only three points, 15-12, separated the teams.
The Saints took an early lead through wing Claire McKenna, who went over in the corner, but the wind was too strong for captain Katie Robertson to add the extras.
The teams swapped tries before the break, Sophie Tyler giving Robertson an easy conversion, as the Saints lead 12-10.
The second half saw some incredible scramble defence by Saints as Henley dominated possession and territory. However, almost continuous Henley pressure finally saw them score the winning try in the right hand corner.
Henley go through to the semi-finals, while Saints prepare for their promotion play-off with an away trip to Loughborough before taking on the Army at Woollams on March 14 in the annual Georgie Robinson Memorial Match.
