ALI Luxford picked up another two tries for the Vees to help secure their fifth win in Herts/Middlesex One this season.
The Win moves them two places up the table to sixth and within range of a top-four finish.
Vees had a few enforced changes to their line up with big Mark Porter stepping in for John Tromans in the loose, and Gareth Waters and Gareth Morse coming in at 14 and 15.
Vees defended well early on and soon the forwards began to dominate the set piece and in the tight.
Andy Evans kicked a penalty for 3-0 and then, from a scrum deep in the Vees 22, skipper Treevor Munien broke blind around the defence and was clear. The home official gave a foot in touch, despite not being close and the Kilburn forwards, also disagreeing with the decision, did not contest the line out.
Vees got the first try when Luxford saw a gap to dive through and score. Luxford went over the try line again soon after but was pulled up for a dubious crossing decision.
Kilburn struck back just before the break with a try of their own. Quick ball from a line out on the Vees 10-metre line saw the ball go out to the strong-running Number 12 who slipped out of a loose tackle and raced away to the line, swerving outside the full back for a well-taken solo try.
The second half started with Vees back in control, with strong running from Wildey, Porter and Luxford in the pack and good play from centres Molyneux and Gardner. Kilburn rarely ventured into the Vees half, struggling to barge through the forwards and being cut down in the midfield when they tried to shift the ball wide.
Vees only had a slender one-point lead but stood strong and, with scrum half Munien closely marshalling the forwards, Luxford spotted his opportunity again to claim his 17th try of the season so far, making the final score 13-7.
Vees will look to avenge the 28-26 loss to Old Actonians at Cotlandswick on Saturday with a 2pm kick off.
Vees: N. Stewart, E. Lowe, M. Porter, R. Wildey, P. Spyropulous, C. Pugh (D. Evershed), B. Moralee, A. Luxford, T.Munien, A. Evans, G. Ellis, B. Molyneux, O. Gardner, G. Waters, G. Morse.
l On a sunny day at Cotlanswick the Verulamians II beat Mill Hill II. Ashley Westhead scored the first try and scores from Thraves and Ricketts made it 19-7 to Vees at the break.
In the second half the game opened up and the expansive Vees took compete control to storm to a 64-12 win.
