OLD Albanian Saints played host to the Hertfordshire Junior Women's Sevens tournament on Sunday with over 500 girls playing at the Woollams venue.

Women's rugby is growing fast and Saints chairman Tasha Saint Smith was delighted the club was given the opportunity to host the event.

"We're very proud, it's a great opportunity for OA Saints, the ladies section of OA Rugby, to get some exposure and for the 500 girls here to play some decent rugby," she told The Herts Advertiser.

"Women's rugby is growing but we definitely need a focus in Hertfordshire on getting young girls playing from U12s all the way through to U18s. This is absolutely brilliant for women and girls rugby," she added.

The OA Saints are keen to get more youngsters playing for the club and Smith was hoping that youngsters may be tempted to join the club after witnessing the fantastic facilities on offer.

"It's always great to show these facilities off because they are fantastic and hopefully this event does enable us to chat to some girls and when they are old enough they can come and play for the senior section for OA Saints, so hopefully it'll be a great day all-round for recruitment.
