Pupils at a St Albans school have received a coaching masterclass - from two of the biggest names in British rugby.
Former England captain Chris Robshaw and Welsh superstar Jamie Roberts were at St Columba’s College on Wednesday to pass on their extensive experience to the senior rugby squads.
Robshaw, who plays for Harlequins, took charge of the national side for four years and is still a part of Eddie Jones’ plans. He led a session on defence where the boys recognised the importance of pressure on the attack and adapting to certain scenarios.
Roberts is another Harlequins man who was won 83 caps for Wales since making his debut in 2008 and has represented the British and Irish Lions on the tours to South Africa in 2009 and Australia in 2013.
He covered handling and decision-making in attack.
A spokeswoman for the school said: “The boys thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and gained valuable skills through not only the training but also by having the opportunity to ask questions at the end.
“The players also demonstrated that they are excellent role models for SCC boys.
“We are now hoping for an excellent rugby season.”
